Workshop Schedule for 2020 

May  16   Table Runner – Leslie Sorenson

Fabric Requirements:

(1)38 2 1/2" squares in assorted prints and color.  You can choose to cut 

your own 2 1/2" squares or you can buy a Mini Charm Pack from any vendor of your

choice.  Mini Charm Packs usually contains 42 squares. 

(2)1/4 yard color for the stripe (white was used in the sample).

(3) 1/2 yard of solid color for the background.(gray was used in the sample)

(4) 1/4 yard of your choice of fabric for the binding. (the same fabric as the backing was

used in the sample.

(5) Backing and Batting each piece 14" X 37".

Sewing Supplies:

Sewing machine with 1/4" foot and usual accesories

Rotary cutter with a good blade (bring an extra blade if you're not sure).

Small cutting mat (18" x 12" should be fine)

12" x 4" ruler or similar but at least 12" long

4" or 6" square ruler

Thread neutrals will work fine for piecing.  We might get to quilting so bring alone that 

you will want to use for that.

Basic sewing supply kit (small scissors, seam ripper, etc)

Small travel iron and ironing mat (optional)

Yardage Requirements for the quilt top

(1) 3/8 yard each of 16 various shades of focus color-and-white

prints for the flower blocks. For example, if you choose red and white your'll need

16 different red and white prints.

(2) 3 1/2 yards of solid color for background

(3) 1/4 yard each of white, background color and focus color for flower centers

2020 Retreat Update

The AQG 2020 Retreat will be held April 27 - May 1, 2020 at Mercy Retreat Center Auburn. We’ve had

a great response in our initial registration and deposits.

The retreat is full, but we are still taking names for the wait list. Contact Leslie Sorenson for more

information. Final payments for registered attendees will be at the February general meeting.

Eleven meals will be provided starting with dinner on Monday night, B, L, D on Tuesday through

Thursday, breakfast on Friday morning. Mercy Center may not be able to accommodate all dietary

restrictions. They do have a microwave and refrigerator space available. Rooms are singles that

include a sink. Bathrooms and showers are dormitory style.

Heritage Button Show and Sale Saturday, March 21, 2020 10am to 5pm 1980 Hamilton Avenue,

San Jose, CA. 95125 we have all varieties of clothing buttons, from those worn in the 18th century

thur the Victorian era; Art Deco; and German & Czech buttons from the 1940's-1980's. French couture

buttons will be available, as well as hand-made buttons designed by current button artisans.\

17th Annual Sonoma Quilt Show Saturday, Mar 21 & Sunday, Mar 22. 10 am to 4 pm Vintage House

Senior Center, 264 First St. East, Sonoma, CA 95476

Judy Dieter, fiber artist and Russ Dieter photographer are the featured artists at this year’s
show. This duo has collaborated to combine their life’s passions in a series of photographs to quilts

 exhibit. As a fiber artist, Judy also uses appliqué, thread and painting to embellish jackets. Over

100 quilts by local quilters are displayed at the show.

Admission: $5. Donated to Vintage House Senior Center to support their programs.
